Mary King's eNews - Investing Your Money Wisely

Hello,

It's important to build a solid firm foundation with your savings when setting up your investment funds. This means that the bottom rung of your investments is a slow and steady foundation. The rate of return on your investment (your ROI) may not be huge but it is safe and steady. It gives you a feeling of having a foundation that will support you solidly. As your savings grow you can move to the next level and receive a greater ROI that may involve more risk. The interest you receive is greater and it may involve a fraction more risk. Investing in real estate or blue chip shares is normally not risky. (Speculation is risky.)

I personally like investing in real estate. Real estate is usually a slow and steady safe investment with the opportunity for capital growth as well. The banks are very happy to lend you money to purchase real estate because they can take a mortgage over the property. They are not so happy to lend for you to purchase shares. So you get greater leverage when purchasing property. Leverage means you can do more with less. It's a great way to grow your wealth.

One of the graduates from Rich is Better - Wealth for Women is pleased with herself that she found car parks returning 7%. The original outlay isn't overwhelming; she is building a foundation, and investing in real estate. The beauty of real estate is that it is a tangible asset. We feel wealthier. (Shares are paper assets and we may not feel as wealthy.) When we feel wealthy we attract more wealth.
